Flights of Fancy

Afraid But Eager
Mood:  not sure
I was out of school, out of work, and out of time. The years were going by, and I had still not fulfilled my fantasy: to join the crew of a tall sailing ship bound for the Caribbean. Did I see myself as Long John Silver reincarnated? Maybe, or maybe Lord Hornblower, but I still wanted to break the bonds of life on land for a little while and feel the rush of the sea. And so I boarded a plane for Baltimore, where the Spirit was berthed. In two days we would depart for Norfolk, then the open Atlantic enroute to Bermuda. Later, in three weeks, we would arrive in Old San Juan harbor with 125 other tall ships from countries all over the world. It was going to be one helleva party.
